How to read this

Talk at normal volume from ~30 cm. A healthy setup sits between −30 and −12 dBFS while speaking, with the bar moving on every word. Pegged at −60? The browser is listening to the wrong device — check the mic picker in your OS or the padlock menu. Slammed against 0 and turning red? Input gain is too hot; whatever you record will distort.

If the level looks good here but some app can't hear you, the problem is that app's settings, not the microphone — this page reads the same stream every website gets.
